Shahkot-Lohian Region Set To Benefit From Dual-Purpose Safety Corridor

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, June 19: The Shahkot-Lohian region is poised for substantial infrastructural growth following the launch of a major road corridor along the Sutlej River. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann finalized the execution of the ₹61.82 crore Dhussi Bund Link Road project, describing it as a definitive solution to connectivity issues and environmental vulnerabilities that have impacted local communities for years. The upcoming infrastructure will link major regional routes, functioning as a transit bypass that avoids heavily congested urban passages.

The structural reinforcement of the Dhussi Bund is expected to secure local agricultural lands and households from seasonal river overflows. According to state representatives, the implementation of this network aligns with broader ongoing efforts to modernize rural transit pathways across the province. The project is expected to streamline commercial transport, lower vehicle operating costs, and ensure that remote areas remain accessible during inclement weather conditions.

“Our Government is committed to providing strong rural infrastructure across Punjab and ensuring a high-quality road and transportation network,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared. He affirmed that the initiative represents a direct investment in the safety, connectivity, and overall quality of life for the residents of the Shahkot-Lohian region. “During the monsoon season, this road will prove to be a boon for farmers, school buses and the general public by ensuring smooth and uninterrupted transportation,” the Chief Minister maintained.

The state administration associated these regional advancements with general governance reforms, pointing to the rollout of universal healthcare benefits under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and dedicated financial support programs for women. The Chief Minister asserted that the province is experiencing systemic progress due to prudent fiscal management, which includes optimizing the canal network for farmers and offering stable power utilities. He stated that the government remains focused on tangible outcomes and infrastructural reliability rather than unverified declarations.
