New Delhi, July 29: Stated that the growing power and unity of young citizens have forced a fundamental shift in national priorities, Aam Aadmi Party MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer affirmed in the Lok Sabha that upcoming elections will be fought on concrete issues like job creation and education rather than divisive rhetoric.
Participating in the debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, the parliamentarian asserted that paper leaks and examination irregularities cannot be stopped simply by increasing punishments. “The administration ought to focus on comprehensive preventive mechanisms and structural safeguards to protect students’ interests effectively,” he said, maintaining that systemic prevention must take precedence over stiffer penalties alone.
Mentioning the impact of student movements across community lines, Mr. Hayer observed that public awareness has compelled top leadership to take direct notice of public sentiment. “The youth compelled the Prime Minister to record a selfie video. It is the fear caused by the youth of India—the Prime Minister, who used to shoot with four cameras, was forced by this youth to shoot a selfie video at 12 in the night because he knows the youth have woken up. Now, elections will be contested on education and employment, not on religion,” he declared.
The parliamentarian cautioned against adopting restrictive digital policies, asserting that India must steer clear of measures that hinder progress and instead remain aligned with development-oriented goals. He declared that addressing structural failures in the examination system is essential to securing the future and aspirations of the nation’s youth.
