by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, July 30 — Structural economic reforms implemented over the past decade have propelled India forward in global competitiveness metrics, rising to 57th place from 82nd in 2010. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry shared the findings following the release of a joint study by the Competere Foundation and the Centre for Trade and Investment Law.

The assessment measures market distortion across three central areas: protection of property rights, domestic market competition, and international trade conditions.

“India has improved its position by 25 places in global rankings, moving from 82nd in 2010 to 57th in 2023, supported by structural and pro-competitive reforms,” maintained official statements from the Ministry regarding the report’s conclusions.

Panelists at the India Habitat Centre discussion noted that modernizing trade systems, refining digital market frameworks, and reducing regulatory barriers remain essential steps for maintaining economic momentum and expanding participation in international trade.
