Safety Measures Enforced Along Char Dham Route Following Slope Instability

District Administration Urges Pilgrims to Await Official Updates Before Resuming Journey

by TheReportingTimes

RUDRAPRAYAG, July 30 — Administrative authorities halted all movement along the Kedarnath trekking route to ensure pilgrim safety following extensive slope erosion and rockfalls near Gaurikund. The closure came after heavy downpours caused structural disruptions across multiple points in Rudraprayag district, affecting both vehicular transit on the Kedarnath Highway and pedestrian access toward the shrine.

District Magistrate Vishal Mishra conducted site inspections across damaged road segments to oversee restoration operations and coordinate clearance work with emergency response teams.

“The pilgrimage will resume only after the trekking route is cleared and declared completely safe for pilgrims,” maintained district officials managing emergency protocols.

Emergency personnel remain stationed along the highway and pedestrian corridors to clear accumulated debris as weather conditions permit. Travellers are urged to adhere strictly to government advisories and postpone journeys along the affected routes until full connectivity is restored.
