Adani Group Cleared As US District Court Dismisses Fraud Indictment With Prejudice

Judge Approves Motion To Drop Case Following Department Of Justice Assessment

New Delhi, August 11: In a major legal development, a US federal judge has granted a complete dismissal of all criminal charges against Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, and former Adani Green Energy CEO Vneet Jaain. The Brooklyn district court terminated the proceedings with prejudice, permanently barring prosecutors from reviving the allegations. The legal matter stemmed from a late 2024 indictment alleging bribery related to Indian solar energy contracts and improper assurances given to American bond investors. Adani Group leadership denied all claims throughout the proceedings, asserting that company operations maintained full adherence to regulatory and ethical standards.

Justice Department officials moved to drop the case after conducting a thorough review, describing the original charges as inconsistent with current prosecutorial priorities and overburdened by evidentiary challenges. US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis approved the termination after requiring formal assurances confirming the decision was free of outside influences. Related civil matters involving financial regulatory agencies were also concluded alongside the criminal dismissal. Following the order, Gautam Adani declared that his belief in the rule of law remained unbroken, reiterating the group’s ongoing dedication to national development and transparent business operations.
