Three-Medal Haul for Ludhiana’s Ojas Sund at National Swimming Meet

Young Swimmer Excelled in Freestyle and Backstroke Events at Bhubaneswar

Ludhiana, August 24: Six-day national aquatic action concluded in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with Ludhiana swimmer Ojas Sund winning three individual medals at the 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championship.

 

Ojas secured silver medals in both the 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre freestyle events, alongside a bronze medal in the 50-metre backstroke. The multi-medal performance brought widespread celebration across Punjab’s athletic fraternity.

 

The swimmer’s development has been mentored by his father and coach, former national swimmer Madhav Sund, who has guided his training regime for competitive events.

 

State swimming officials maintained that the achievement highlights the growing caliber of local talent. Surjit Singh Sandhu, president of the Punjab Swimming Association, alongside general secretary Anuj Sharma, asserted that three medals at the nationals was a remarkable achievement. They stated that Ojas has made Ludhiana and Punjab proud with his consistent performances, maintaining their confidence that he has a bright future ahead.

 

Administrative leaders emphasized that the successful outing should serve as a foundation for international aspirations. Balraj Sharma, general secretary of the District Swimming Association Ludhiana and CEO of the Punjab Swimming Association, affirmed that winning three medals at a national championship reflects the youngster’s talent, hard work, and commitment to the sport. He declared that the medals are only the beginning, maintaining hope that Ojas will eventually represent both the state and the country at the highest competitive tier.
