Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that multilateral groups must dismantle the full operational framework supporting terror outfits. In speeches delivered before regional heads of state, including Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PM Modi asserted that anti-terror measures must remain absolute across all international platforms. Leaders from Russia, China, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan were present for the plenary sessions.
The Indian delegation maintained that state patronage of armed groups cannot be tolerated as a diplomatic lever. “We must dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism–its financing, recruitment, radicalisation, and safe havens,” PM Modi stated, adding that global institutions must speak in one clear voice.
Government officials affirmed that security frameworks across Central and South Asia require comprehensive cooperation against financial channels aiding illegal outfits. Representatives maintained that counter-terrorism policies cannot be influenced by strategic considerations or nation-specific leniency.
The multilateral forum featured wider deliberations on regional connectivity, trade routes, and economic partnerships. Officials affirmed that regional stability remains a prerequisite for sustained trade integration among member states.
