Work Resumes in State Offices as Employee Unions and Administration Reach Consensus

Government Withdraws Show-Cause Notices Issued Over Mass Leave Participation

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh: Normal operations have restored across public offices in Punjab as state employee associations officially concluded their pen-down strike. The resolution came after senior government officials affirmed that directives issued late last month regarding mass leave participation would be withdrawn unconditionally.

The dispute had escalated after departmental letters categorized participation in the August 27 mass casual leave as unauthorized absence, leading to show-cause notices for participating staff. During recent consultative meetings, state leadership assured union representatives that these directives would be rolled back and that no adverse entries would be made in service records.

Following the assurance, employee unions called on staff across departments to resume regular administrative work. Both sides expressed confidence that remaining service-related matters will be addressed through ongoing administrative consultations and constructive discussions.
