Lucknow, Sept 11: Chairing a high-level review of the Public Works Department and allied ministries, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed state departments to execute immediate measures to restore rain-damaged road networks across Uttar Pradesh. Officials reported that ongoing surveys are mapping routes affected by heavy rainfall as well as heavy machinery transport from major construction projects.
The state administration has targeted 50,000 kilometers for pothole repair out of the total 4.36 lakh kilometer network spanning nine departments. Departmental targets also include 30,000 kilometers earmarked for full renewal and 5,000 kilometers for special repairs, with active surveys determining final departmental allocations.
Adityanath declared that public convenience remains the primary mandate, directing immediate action on 681 prioritized festival routes to accommodate increased travel during upcoming celebrations. He instructed officials to ensure high-quality execution without compromising standards during the campaign.
The meeting brought together leadership from Union and State road infrastructure bodies, including representatives from Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Mandi Parishad, Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, and Industrial Development. State ministers and senior department secretaries were present to coordinate the cross-departmental restoration strategy.
