Lucknow, Sept 11: Relief operations continue at an expanded scale across 25 flood-hit districts of Uttar Pradesh as state authorities move to protect communities from rising water levels. Continuous monitoring ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has enabled the safe evacuation of 21,350 people to date, including 8,000 citizens shifted to higher ground in a single day.
The administration has deployed 2,385 boats to assist stranded families, while 2,972 individuals have been accommodated in designated relief shelters. Food delivery measures have reached a milestone, with the government supplying over 9.31 lakh lunch packets and 1.49 lakh food grain relief kits across affected regions.
Addressing public health risks associated with flooding, the Health Department has deployed 1,165 specialized medical units to affected districts. To safeguard drinking water and combat dehydration, officials have supplied more than 7.22 lakh chlorine tablets and 2.97 lakh ORS kits, resulting in zero reported human or livestock casualties thus far.
In addition to public health and shelter measures, livestock protection remains a key focus, with officials distributing 6,956 quintals of cattle fodder. District administrations across the 25 identified territories—including Gorakhpur, Ballia, Basti, and Barabanki—have been instructed to sustain round-the-clock monitoring until floodwaters recede.
