NEW DELHI, SEPT 11: In a key decision aimed at strengthening the higher judiciary, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant recommended the elevation of eight judicial officers to the Delhi High Court. The decision was taken following detailed deliberations in a Collegium meeting held on Thursday.
The list of recommended officers for the Delhi High Court includes Gurvinder Pal Singh, Nivedita Anil Sharma, Nisha Sahay Saxena, Sanjay Sharma-I, Bharat Parashar, Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt, and Arun Bhardwaj.
The panel maintained focus on addressing judicial vacancies nationwide by recommending appointments across multiple jurisdictions. Judicial officer Yash Paul Bourney was approved for elevation to the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
Proposals for other state High Courts also received green signals. The Collegium recommended Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar, and Ram Sharma for appointment to the Jharkhand High Court, alongside Usharani, K S Bharath Kumar, and Nerale Veerabhadraiah Bhavani for the Karnataka High Court.
