Chandigarh, Sept 14: In an effort to dismantle cross-border drug supply routes, Punjab Police has expanded its multi-layered surveillance network with the integration of specialized anti-drone technology and community-level Village Defence Committees. According to official statements from the department, three newly deployed Drone Sense D200 Pro units in strategic border districts are enabling precise pin-pointing of drop locations, allowing ground teams backed by second-line defence nakas to intercept consignments immediately. Financial investigations executed alongside these field operations have led to the freezing of properties valued at over 336 crore rupees to disrupt the economic network of illicit trade.
Despite the reduction in border-smuggled heroin, state authorities declared that pharmaceutical drug diversion now poses the largest obstacle to drug law enforcement. Data analyzed from recent seizures indicates that over 11.5 lakh pharmaceutical tablets and capsules recovered since 2025 were linked to supply channels operating outside Punjab. The state administration declared its intention to engage directly with regulatory authorities in neighboring and manufacturing states to enforce stricter monitoring of sales, transport, and production units, ensuring coordinated inter-state enforcement against organized distribution networks.
