Punjab Agent Held for Fake UK Visa Deal

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, April 24 — Delhi Police arrested a 35-year-old travel agent from Kotkapura, Punjab, for arranging a fake UK visa for a Haryana man in 2022, officials said.

Identified as Amit Bhardwaj alias Gavi, the accused allegedly took ₹12 lakh from a 25-year-old named Anil for a UK visa and job opportunity via the UAE.

Anil was intercepted at Delhi’s IGI Airport while boarding a flight to Sharjah, where officials found the visa on his passport to be fake. A case was registered on March 1, 2022.

Police said Bhardwaj worked with two agents, Karanjeet Singh and Gurmeet Singh, who were arrested earlier.

Bhardwaj had remained absconding despite a non-bailable warrant.

Acting on a tip-off, police tracked him down in Punjab.

During questioning, Bhardwaj admitted his role and said he took ₹2 lakh as commission after turning to illegal visa deals due to financial struggles.

The investigation is ongoing.
