Chandigarh, April 25: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini affirmed on Saturday that Haryana is set to modernize its agricultural procurement further by delivering QR-coded J-Forms to farmers via WhatsApp. Speaking in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister stated that this initiative, alongside a forthcoming ‘Kisan App,’ will eliminate manual hurdles in tracking payments and scheduling mandi visits.

The proposed application will provide real-time updates on crop sowing, gate pass issuance, and land verification. Saini asserted that digital gate passes have already reduced the long queues and manual token systems that characterized previous tenures. He declared that 13.47 lakh digital passes have been issued during the current season alone, facilitating a smoother flow of produce.

“Around 5.8 lakh farmers have brought their produce to the mandis,” Saini stated, noting that daily lifting has surged to 3.5 lakh MT since mid-April. He affirmed that the current procurement of 81.48 lakh MT has already surpassed the previous year’s total of 72.89 lakh MT. The Chief Minister maintained that the use of 932 CCTV cameras ensures every transaction is recorded and transparent.

Addressing weather-related challenges, Saini declared that the government has increased the permissible limit for broken and shriveled grains to 15 percent. He stated that these relaxations were implemented from the start of the season to safeguard farmers against financial loss due to climate factors.

The Chief Minister also noted the success of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, stating that 20.18 lakh farmers in the state have received over Rs 7,562 crore in direct transfers. Saini affirmed that the government remains focused on integrating technology to ensure that every grain brought to the mandi is accounted for and paid for promptly.
