Chandigarh, August 5: The Punjab Government’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana has delivered medical assistance valued at approximately 1,044 crore rupees, benefiting 2,91,417 individuals suffering from acute and chronic medical conditions. Addressing the impact of the scheme, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh asserted that effective healthcare policies must eliminate the difficult choice between seeking necessary treatment and bearing financial hardship. The program has seen substantial adoption in major districts including Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, and Sangrur, alongside widespread coverage in smaller districts such as Mansa, Barnala, Tarn Taran, and Malerkotla.
Patient testimonies from across the state affirmed the practical benefits of the health cards during critical care situations, including high-risk C-section deliveries, specialized heart care, and orthopedic procedures. State Health Agency records indicate that access to free secondary and tertiary medical treatments has reduced out-of-pocket health expenditures for thousands of families. The Health Minister affirmed that the state government will continue refining system operations and enhancing healthcare accessibility so that quality medical facilities remain available to every citizen without delay.
