Punjab Cabinet rallies behind Kejriwal

Ministers cite Gandhian principles in judicial standoff

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, April 28: Aam Aadmi Party ministers in Punjab have voiced collective solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal’s recent decision to refrain from appearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma’s court. The leadership maintained that the gesture is a call to uphold the highest standards of the legal system rather than an act against the judiciary itself.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared the move an unprecedented effort to expose systemic concerns. He stated, “Arvind Kejriwal’s decision is a principled stand aimed at safeguarding faith in justice and ensuring that the process remains transparent and unbiased.” This sentiment was supported by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, who asserted that justice must be seen to be done to remain valid. “When even this basic standard is in doubt, stepping back is not weakness, it is the voice of conscience,” Bains affirmed.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained that the party stands entirely with the National Convenor in this pursuit of truth. He stated that the preservation of public trust is paramount, noting that “when questions arise over the judiciary’s impartiality, public trust is shaken.” The Chief Minister described the move as a demonstration of the sacrifices required to protect one’s dignity and the integrity of the law.

Adding to the discourse, Aman Arora stated that political shadows often impact the perception of fairness in legal proceedings. He declared that the path of satyagraha chosen by Kejriwal serves as a peaceful resistance. Power Minister Sanjeev Arora also noted that the credibility of the system relies heavily on the transparency of its fairness. Several other cabinet members, including Dr. Balbir Singh and Lal Chand Kataruchak, reaffirmed their commitment to this collective stance, stating that the party will continue to advocate for the rule of law and institutional transparency.
