CHANDIGARH, JUNE 14 — More than 67,000 drug peddlers have been apprehended across Punjab as the state intensifies its comprehensive measures against narcotics. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan shared these details while urging the region’s youth to stay away from illicit substances and actively integrate sports into their daily routines for improved well-being.
The ongoing state-wide enforcement drive has focused heavily on choking supply lines to prevent vulnerable individuals from falling into substance abuse. Speaker Sandhwan asserted that a zero-tolerance policy governs these operations, meaning individuals caught distributing illegal substances will face strict statutory actions.
“Our government assumed office with a solemn resolution to eliminate drugs menace,” the Speaker declared. “The ongoing state-wide campaign has successfully choked major supply lines and prevented countless youth from falling prey to drug abuse.”
Beyond law enforcement tactics, the narrative shifts toward domestic intervention and parental responsibility. The Speaker noted that families must remain highly vigilant, spending quality time with their children during crucial developmental stages to prevent them from picking up detrimental habits.
He affirmed that the younger generation has immense potential that is best directed toward academic excellence and winning medals in sports. By establishing a supportive home environment and encouraging physical recreation, families can build a natural defense against societal vices.
The administration also called upon ordinary citizens to step forward as responsible members of society by reporting suspicious activities to the police department. Community awareness and immediate communication with law enforcement are viewed as vital components in rooting out the problem entirely.
Speaker Sandhwan maintained that all informant identities will be preserved with strict confidentiality by the authorities. He stated that while the administration remains committed to choking the trade, cohesive public support is the definitive mechanism required to safeguard the long-term future of the state’s youth.
