ZIRAKPUR, July 1— A 20-year-old female student from Himachal Pradesh died under mysterious circumstances after allegedly falling from the third floor of a paying guest (PG) accommodation near Nabha Sahib village late on Sunday night.
Zirakpur police suspect suicide, but have not ruled out foul play. “We received information about the fall and reached the spot. The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her body has been sent for post-mortem to Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi,” said Inspector Satinder Singh, SHO of Zirakpur police station.
The victim had recently shifted into the PG facility and was reportedly studying at a university in Shimla. Police recovered her student ID card from a Shimla-based institution. A wristband typically issued at clubs or events was also found among her belongings, prompting investigators to look into her movements prior to the incident.
Officials said the exact circumstances leading to her fall are still under investigation. Her family has been informed and further inquiry will follow once the autopsy report is received.
