Delhi CM Inaugurates Civic Projects Worth ₹2 Crore in Pitampura

New Delhi, July 6— Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inaugurated a series of development projects worth over ₹2 crore in Pitampura, under the Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency, reaffirming her government’s commitment to tangible civic improvements across the capital.

During her visit, the Chief Minister opened a range of public works, including newly constructed roads and drainage systems in LP and CP Blocks, as well as a sewer line project in BU Block. She also inaugurated the installation of 52 new streetlight poles in a local park and launched a new drainage channel behind BU Block and BU-SFS flats.

“The goal is not merely to build roads and drains, but to meaningfully uplift the quality of life for every citizen,” Gupta said. “These projects are steps towards our larger vision of a ‘Viksit Dilli’ — a developed Delhi.”

Providing a financial breakdown of the works, the CM stated that the LP Block roads and drains were completed at a cost of ₹1 crore, while seven new roads and drains in CP Block were built for ₹60 lakh. The sewer line in BU Block, currently under construction, carries a cost of ₹30 lakh, and the 52 new streetlights cost ₹10.5 lakh. The additional drainage system launched behind BU Block was built for ₹11.3 lakh.

At BU Block, the Chief Minister personally inspected the sewer project and directed the Delhi Jal Board to expedite completion while maintaining high standards. “All departments must ensure the work is completed within the stipulated timelines, with full transparency,” she said.

Addressing residents and local representatives, CM Gupta stressed that her administration’s focus is on implementation, not just policy declarations. “Years of neglect have left many areas dealing with broken roads, frequent flooding, and inadequate lighting. We are determined to change that through focused, on-ground action,” she said.

Residents welcomed the new developments, which aim to provide safer, cleaner, and more functional public spaces. Local authorities say these upgrades will significantly reduce monsoon-related waterlogging and enhance night-time safety in the area.

Gupta’s visit to Pitampura marks another push in her administration’s broader urban renewal drive, aimed at improving core infrastructure across Delhi’s residential neighbourhoods.
