Chandigarh, 10 October 2025 –Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday attended Lovely Professional University (LPU)’s grand ‘One India Fest’, bringing together thousands of students from across the country to celebrate India’s cultural diversity and unity.

To showcase how India’s unity lies in it’s diversity, the fest also celebrated India’s culinary diversity, with students preparing iconic dishes such as Punjab’s Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki Roti, Bengal’s Rasgulla and fish, Hyderabad’s Biryani, Gujarat’s Dhokla, and South India’s Dosa-Idli. Handicrafts, traditional jewelry, and artworks from various states further enriched the festive atmosphere.

The festival, themed ‘Mini India,’ transformed the campus into a vibrant showcase of the nation’s heritage. Students performed traditional dances including Punjab’s Bhangra, Rajasthan’s Ghoomar, Assam’s Bihu, Kerala’s Mohiniyattam, Gujarat’s Garba, and folk dances from Uttar Pradesh. The campus was adorned with cultural tableaux, traditional stalls, and art exhibitions, drawing around 50,000 students, faculty, and visitors.

Kejriwal described the event as “a magnificent celebration of India’s unity” and highlighted the role of youth in strengthening national cohesion. “India’s real strength lies in its diversity. When young people from different states, languages, and cultures come together on one platform, it shows that we are all one,” he said, encouraging students to respect all cultures while preserving their own.

Chief Minister Mann emphasized the Punjab government’s focus on education and holistic youth development. “Our goal is not just to award degrees, but to nurture talented, cultured, and patriotic citizens. Institutions like LPU are playing a key role in this mission,” he said, adding that the state is rolling out special schemes to promote cultural and creative activities in higher education institutions.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal welcomed the leaders and highlighted the festival’s reach, noting participation from students representing over 30 states. “Our aim is to give students a platform where they can showcase their own culture and understand the traditions of others,” he said.

Kejriwal lauded the LPU team for organizing the successful festival. “Punjab’s youth is India’s future. Nurturing their talent and helping them progress is our biggest responsibility. The energy and enthusiasm I witnessed today assures me that India’s future is bright,” he said.

By combining performances, food, and art, the ‘One India Fest’ has evolved into a national-level platform that preserves cultural heritage while fostering social harmony, national pride, and unity among youth. The presence of both chief ministers underscored the event’s significance and inspiration for the next generation.
