BATHINDA, Jan 11 – Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has hit back at the BJP, Congress, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), calling their political strategies “identical” attempts to distract from his government’s progress.
During the final day of his Bathinda tour, the CM argued that traditional parties resort to religion-based politics whenever they are cornered.
“They spent decades ruling Punjab but resorted to communal politics whenever cornered,” Mann remarked. He further noted that the narrow margins in recent local elections did not reflect a weak performance by AAP, but rather a competitive landscape where the party remains strong.
Addressing safety concerns raised regarding SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia in jail, the CM denied any threat existed. He stated that if any intelligence were received, the state and central governments would coordinate.
Regarding the state’s relationship with the Centre, Mann maintained he would remain firm on local interests. “I will raise every issue that concerns Punjab – even before the Prime Minister and Home Minister,” he said.
The CM also announced he would visit Akal Takht Sahib to offer clarification regarding his past remarks on donation boxes.
Following the library inauguration, Mann reviewed ‘Mission Pragati,’ a coaching project for village students. He described the facility as a “unique model” for the state, designed to support students preparing for competitive exams with free resources.
