Zero Tolerance for Lawbreakers in Punjab

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, Jan 12: Aam Aadmi Party State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu declared on Monday that Punjab remains completely safe under the Bhagwant Mann government, with law and order firmly maintained.

Addressing the media in Chandigarh, Pannu stated that the administration has adopted a decisive stance against anyone attempting to disrupt peace or take the law into their own hands.

“Crackdown on gangsters is being executed with the same intensity as the ongoing war against drugs, ensuring no criminal escapes justice regardless of their background,” he said.

The state’s zero-tolerance policy toward organized crime was reflected in the recent arrest of two shooters in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, linked to a sarpanch murder case. Punjab Police utilized advanced surveillance to track the suspects across 110 kilometers before coordinating with local authorities for the capture.

“Any person who fires bullets or commits violence will not be dealt with softly; they will be answered in the same language. Those who believe they can commit crimes in Punjab and hide in other states are living in a serious misconception,” Pannu said.

Recent operations have seen the arrest of Godara gang members following an encounter in Ludhiana and the apprehension of Mohali firing suspects in Kolkata. These inter-state operations demonstrate the reach of the specialized units now operating under a free hand from the Chief Minister.

“Punjab Police will chase them to any state and arrest them. Our force is now equipped with modern vehicles, advanced surveillance systems, and the latest technology, making it fully prepared to handle any situation,” Pannu added, dismissing opposition criticism regarding the Anti-Gangster Task Force.

The current administration has distanced itself from criminal elements, contrastive to the practices of previous regimes.
