Abohar, March 15: Hanumangarh Police have apprehended Vishal Kumar, a long-term criminal associate of the Bambiha gang, for his alleged role in a massive arms smuggling syndicate. The arrest comes two weeks after a large cache of pistols and magazines was recovered during a high-profile blockade.
Police Inspector Lakhbir Singh and his team affirmed that the suspect was brought from Ferozepur under a production warrant to face questioning regarding the gang’s financial and logistical support systems. Authorities declared that the suspect’s extensive criminal record and active involvement in the illegal arms trade made him a high-priority target for the task force.
“The arrest of the main arms procurer is a pivotal step in dismantling the gang’s operational capabilities,” a senior police official stated. The official further noted that the prompt intervention by the AGTF helped avert a potential gang war by neutralizing the weapon supply chain before the hardware could be used.
Investigators asserted that the weapons seized earlier this month were traced back to suppliers in Madhya Pradesh, with the suspect acting as the bridge for the Bambiha gang. The police declared that they are now working to identify the financiers and other active members involved in the interstate trafficking network to prevent future conspiracies.
