Chandigarh, June 27: State law enforcement authorities successfully apprehended 332 criminals, including 147 high-risk offenders, following synchronized raids across 562 locations under the specialized ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ anti-crime drive. Revealing the data at a press conference, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal affirmed that the state government has maintained a consistent, multi-year campaign to completely eradicate gangsterism and illicit networks from the region.
The legislator stated that the total number of individuals arrested under organized crime definitions has reached 40,353, aided significantly by the launch of the dedicated citizen helpline 93946-93946. He asserted that the administration is tracking overseas criminal handlers operating from international locations, though smooth administrative coordination regarding extraditions remains vital to finalizing these investigations.
“The Bhagwant Mann Government is keeping a close watch on all their hideouts and activities. However, the cooperation of the Central Government is essential to bring these criminals back to India. If the Centre genuinely cooperates, these issues can be resolved in no time,” Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal declared.
Turning to enforcement statistics under the parallel ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ anti-drug initiative, the spokesperson stated that police operations since March 2025 have led to the recovery of 3,103 kilograms of heroin, massive quantities of synthetic stimulants, and over ₹18.73 crore in illicit currency. He affirmed that the state is taking unprecedented steps, such as dismantling the infrastructure of top traffickers, to permanently break the supply chain.
The spokesperson explained that cross-border smuggling via unmanned aerial vehicles across the 532-kilometer international boundary continues to pose a challenge to the Punjab Police. He noted that the timely integration of advanced anti-drone systems along the border would have significantly expedited the complete elimination of contraband entry into the state.
“Drugs and sophisticated weapons are continuously being smuggled into Punjab from Pakistan through drones operating across the state’s 532-kilometre-long international border. Had the Central Government installed the anti-drone systems along Punjab’s international border as repeatedly demanded by the Punjab Government, drugs could have been completely eliminated,” the spokesperson asserted.
The presentation concluded with a focus on matching rigorous law enforcement with extensive social security support. The representative mentioned that the state is simultaneously ensuring citizen prosperity through successful programs like the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna for cashless healthcare and the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, ensuring public resources flow directly back to every household.
