Shimla, July 11: A series of severe landslides and infrastructure failures have disrupted life across Shimla following intense rainfall, leaving several residential structures vulnerable to collapse. Local administrative bodies have initiated emergency protocols across the affected districts to mitigate the fallout from the ongoing weather system.
“The situation remains dynamic as we clear heavy boulders and mud from key transit lines,” declared a district representative. “Work has already commenced in Rajhana village, where a sudden hillside collapse released a massive volume of rocks onto parked vehicles.”
The impact was felt sharply in the Bothwell area near Government College in Sanjauli, where falling earth directly threatened local housing. Fearing sudden structural failures, families watched as administrative experts arrived to map out containment strategies and secure the immediate perimeter.
Further updates from the region confirmed that the Sangla-Chitkul link has been severed entirely. The Sangla bridge, which had been under close monitoring due to rising water levels and continuous stress from the downpours, gave way completely during the night.
Weather officials have advised maximum caution for travelers and residents, maintaining a regional yellow alert covering five districts, including Kullu and Chamba.
“We strongly urge people to stay away from known vulnerable zones and active water bodies,” a meteorological scientist asserted. “The conditions are highly favorable for localized flash floods, traffic congestion, and reduced visibility on major hill roads.”
