Shimla, July 23: Persistent rain spells across Himachal Pradesh have prompted meteorological authorities to place several districts on heightened alert, warning of sustained heavy rainfall in mid-hill zones. The India Meteorological Department assigned an orange alert to Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur, while issuing yellow warnings for Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Chamba to prepare for ongoing wet spells.
Weather analysts noted that maximum temperatures will experience a noticeable drop of up to 6°C over the next 24 hours as widespread rain covers the region.
“Minimum temperatures are expected to stay close to normal levels across the state,” declared an IMD weather consultant. “However, daytime maximums may drop by 2°C to 6°C over the next 24 hours due to sustained cloud cover and rainfall.”
Among major towns, low temperatures ranged from 25°C in Paonta Sahib down to 12°C in high-altitude Keylong. Regional centers including Dharamshala recorded a minimum of 21.6°C, Mandi registered 23.3°C, and Nahan stood at 21.1°C.
Barmour in Chamba district logged the lowest minimum temperature across the entire state at 11°C, as local administrations monitor weather conditions to ensure public safety.
