Sunam, August 1: Comprehensive development initiatives worth over 107 crore rupees were formally launched in Sunam as Punjab commemorated the Shaheedi Diwas of Shaheed Udham Singh.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paid floral tributes to the revolutionary leader at his birthplace and announced the commencement of specialized regional projects designed to expand sports, health, and military training opportunities for the youth of the Malwa belt.
“Rebuilding the Punjab and India dreamt of by our martyrs is our priority,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated. “Providing quality education, healthcare, and employment while eliminating corruption is the truest tribute to our freedom fighters.”
The ceremonial launch included laying the foundation stone for the Sant Attar Singh Maharaj Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, projected to cost 98.68 crore rupees. The upcoming academy will feature smart classrooms, physical training grounds, dynamic sports arenas, and specialized preparation modules for entry into the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Alongside the institute, Chief Minister Mann operationalized local health infrastructure including a 5-crore rupee Trauma Centre with ICU capabilities, a 3.68-crore rupee centralized Medicines Warehouse with cold-storage units, and a specialized Blood Bank.
The Chief Minister affirmed that state reforms in governance, merit-based job allocation, canal irrigation expansion, and educational upgrades have strengthened public trust. Senior government officials and cabinet members participated in the commemorative function, emphasizing that these initiatives serve to preserve the heritage and legacy of the nation’s iconic revolutionaries.
