BJP Pledges Nationwide Drive After Condemning Congress Stance on National Song

Leadership Affirms Equal Legal Standing for Vande Mataram Following CWC Resolution

by TheReportingTimes

NEW DELHI, AUGUST 22: A full assembly of Bharatiya Janata Party national office bearers formally condemned a decision by the Congress Working Committee to restrict Vande Mataram performances, vowing to launch a nationwide campaign to take the full text of the song to every corner of the country.

The resolution, adopted Saturday, firmly rejected the August 19 decision by Congress to limit the song to its initial stanzas at party functions. BJP leaders asserted that Vande Mataram remains an immortal mantra of the independence struggle, protected under the 2026 parliamentary amendment that established statutory safeguards equivalent to those of the National Anthem.

Party executives maintained that political organizations cannot undermine established constitutional settlements or legislative mandates enacted by Parliament to satisfy specific vote-bank demands.

“We affirm that no compromise can be accepted with the honour and legacy of Vande Mataram for political convenience or appeasement,” BJP President Nitin Nabin asserted. He declared that the issue touches directly on national dignity rather than routine inter-party political disagreements.

Nabin recalled historical context surrounding the song’s role in the anti-colonial struggle, noting that even British authorities attempted to suppress the words due to their powerful unifying effect.

“The BJP calls upon every citizen to remember that the words Vande Mataram were once powerful enough to frighten an empire,” Nabin maintained, emphasizing that party workers will work to ensure future generations recognize the full anthem’s historical legacy.
