Sangrur, Nov 4: Senior Congress leaders gathered in Sangrur on Wednesday for the party’s Insaaf Rally, marking the official commencement of their campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and state party chief Pargat Singh addressed the public gathering, focusing on public welfare, agricultural concerns, and law enforcement in the state.
During his address, Rahul Gandhi asserted that the administration in Punjab remains managed from outside the state, leading to gaps in addressing core public grievances. He expressed concern over the persistent drug issue and its impact on local communities, affirming that effective governance requires decisive local action. Recalling his interaction with late singer Sidhu Moosewala, he pointed out that institutional oversights in security management need thorough evaluation. Additionally, Rahul Gandhi declared his readiness to engage in a direct, open debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on key policy and political matters.
