Gurdaspur, December 29, 2024: A major altercation between two groups in Gurdaspur Central Jail has led to police action. On the complaint of jail authorities, the police have filed a case against 13 prisoners involved in the fight that occurred on January 26.
The conflict reportedly began with a dispute between inmates Sahil Preet alias Sohi and Balwinder Singh Billi, who have a long-standing rivalry. Another inmate, Gurmeet Singh Meeta, also got involved, and the situation escalated. A jail guard then activated the siren to signal for help.
During the altercation, one prisoner, Gagandeep Singh, was seriously injured and admitted to Civil Hospital Gurdaspur, while two others sustained minor injuries. Police from six stations responded to the incident, bringing the situation under control. The police have now registered a case against 13 prisoners involved in the clash.
