Pune, March 22 — Pune Police on Thursday arrested an engineer for allegedly killing his three-year-old son, suspecting his wife’s character. The accused, Madhav Teketi, an IIT Bangalore graduate working at a multinational company, confessed to the crime following sustained interrogation.

According to police, Madhav lived in Chandannagar with his wife, Swaroopa Teketi, also an engineer, and their son, Himmat. Senior Inspector Sima Dhakane said the couple frequently argued, and Madhav was suspicious of his wife’s fidelity.

The incident came to light when Swaroopa filed a complaint at the Chandannagar Police Station, reporting her son missing around 12:30 pm. She stated that Himmat was last seen with Madhav. During the probe, CCTV footage showed Madhav leaving their residential complex with Himmat but returning alone.

Further investigation revealed that Madhav had purchased a knife and a blade from a local shop. Dhakane said Madhav was intoxicated during initial questioning and tried to mislead the police. “When questioned, he was under the influence of alcohol and was misleading the police,” she said.

However, after technical analysis and sustained interrogation, Madhav admitted to the crime. He was booked under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
