Chandigarh, Sept 18: In a major administrative development, the state leadership has approved an eight percent increase in dearness allowance for government workers and retirees, effectively ending recent employee agitation. The agreement was finalized during a high-level dialogue convened between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, cabinet members, and leaders representing twelve major staff unions.
State leader Aman Arora declared that the two hundred fifty crore rupee package comes as a constructive step to maintain harmonious relations between the administration and its workforce. He maintained that both parties have mutually resolved to settle outstanding legal matters outside court, emphasizing that government functionaries and civil servants must work together for regional progress.
Union leaders expressed gratitude for the positive outcome, confirming that the revised allowance will be credited starting with the October 1 payout cycle. Staff representatives maintained that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann pledged to review additional service concerns, including probation pay scales and pension arrangements, in an upcoming review meeting set for later this month.
