Strong India Key to Global Stability, Modi Tells Ghana Parliament

by TheReportingTimes

Accra, July 3 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that a stronger India would play a vital role in ensuring a more stable and prosperous world, while urging reforms in global governance systems to reflect the shifting dynamics of the 21st century.

Addressing Ghana’s Parliament during his two-day visit to the West African nation, Modi emphasized the need to empower the Global South and acknowledged the evolving world order shaped by new forces and emerging economies.

“As the world’s largest democracy, India is a pillar of strength for the world. A strong India will contribute to a more stable and prosperous world,” the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting India’s rapid economic ascent, Modi noted, “India is the fastest-growing emerging economy, and on the foundations of stable polity and governance, we will soon become the third-largest economy.”

The Prime Minister underscored that the post-World War II global order is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by technological revolutions, demographic shifts, and the rising influence of the Global South.

“These changes are reshaping the world at a remarkable pace. The time has come for credible and effective reforms in global governance,” Modi said.

He stressed that inclusive progress is not possible without giving the Global South its rightful voice in international decision-making.

Modi’s address comes amid growing international dialogue on multilateral reform, especially within institutions like the United Nations, IMF, and World Bank, where calls for greater representation of developing nations have intensified.
