Chandigarh, August 4: The Punjab Legislative Assembly approved a censure motion by voice vote focusing on recurring examination paper leaks and related youth welfare concerns across the country.
Winding up the discussion on the floor of the House, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the formal communication will be transmitted directly to the Prime Minister’s Office alongside key Union Ministries.
Underlining the state’s official stance, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared, “We strongly condemn this entire episode. The cases registered against students who were protesting for their rights should be withdrawn immediately.”
Addressing domestic recruitment procedures, the Chief Minister declared, “In Punjab, merit is the sole criterion for getting government jobs. No recommendations, no bribes, government jobs are given only on merit in a transparent manner.” He noted that over 68,000 public sector appointments have been completed through transparent processes.
Reflecting on academic advancements, Mann asserted, “Due to the strenuous efforts of the state government, Punjab has surpassed Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi to secure the number one position in primary and middle-school education,” referencing recent national performance evaluations.
