New Delhi, August 5: Tensions escalated inside the Lok Sabha as Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed Opposition parties for orchestrating protests concerning the Ram Temple and disrupting regular house proceedings. The Minister’s remarks followed a protest march staged by Opposition parliamentarians from the Gandhi statue to the Makar Dwar inside the Parliament complex. Minister Rijiju asserted that the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and CPI have demonstrated a long-standing pattern of opposing religious traditions, noting that their former decision to wear black armbands during temple construction highlighted their underlying position.
Addressing the assembly during repeated adjournments, Minister Rijiju demanded a formal apology to the country from the three parties. “I want Congress, SP, and CPI to apologise to the country and also tender an apology for the insult to Lord Ram,” Minister Rijiju asserted. The confrontation added to the continued deadlock in the House, even as the government engaged in 50-minute consultation sessions with Opposition leadership to address legislative scheduling and restore orderly function in Parliament.
