Ludhiana, Sept 18: The state health surveillance framework has tracked three hundred forty-seven confirmed H1N1 infections, with Ludhiana emerging as the most affected district. Official metrics show that SAS Nagar and Patiala follow closely in confirmed patient tallies, while statewide suspected Category-C cases have reached nineteen hundred twenty-six.
Addressing concerns over the surge, Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh declared that state hospitals maintain sufficient resources, isolation capabilities, and treatment protocols to handle incoming patients. He affirmed that seasonal weather patterns favor respiratory virus circulation, but emphasized that influenza A remains manageable without widespread panic. The minister advised residents to follow basic hygiene practices and urged high-risk groups to limit exposure in high-density public spaces.
Medical authorities emphasized that Category-C classification serves as a triage mechanism for severe respiratory distress rather than a direct confirmation of swine flu. While districts like Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Moga have also logged confirmed cases, health teams maintain that prompt clinical assessment for severe symptoms like breathlessness remains the primary defense against complications.
