Lucknow, 1 January 2025 – A brutal crime in Lucknow has rocked the city as 24-year-old Arshad was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his mother and four sisters in a hotel room. The horrifying act, reportedly carried out with the assistance of his father, has sent shockwaves across the region.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central, Raveena Tyagi, confirmed that the authorities received information about five bodies found in a room at Hotel Sharanjeet, located in the Thana Naka area. During questioning, Arshad confessed to the murders, stating he slit the throats and cut the wrist nerves of his mother and sisters.
The victims were identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18), and their mother, Asma. The police learned of the crime after hotel staff contacted them upon discovering the bodies.
Arshad, a resident of Agra, admitted the murders were motivated by an ongoing family dispute. He explained the family had first been taken to Ajmer and then to Lucknow the day before the killings. The accused also claimed his father helped him commit the murders, although the extent of his involvement remains under investigation. DCP Tyagi noted that Agra Police were being consulted for further inquiries into the father’s role.
Arshad revealed that he first killed his mother and then murdered his sisters while they were asleep in the hotel room. A video surfaced of Arshad recounting his crime, explaining that the killings stemmed from deep frustrations with family tensions.
Police have sealed off the crime scene and collected evidence, while senior officers conducted their investigation at the hotel. The victims’ bodies have been sent for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, and authorities are awaiting the results to provide clarity on the case.
“We will have a clearer picture of the motives and circumstances once the post-mortem reports are finalized,” DCP Tyagi stated. Police are continuing to probe the incident, including uncovering the father’s role in the tragic murders.
