Chandigarh, July 17: Chandigarh authorities have rolled out comprehensive traffic diversions and tight security protocols as the city hosts Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a major developmental tour. The administrative adjustments are meant to manage the movement around the venues where the Prime Minister is set to dedicate and lay foundation stones for multi-sector infrastructure projects worth upwards of Rs 6,600 crore.

Key upgrades to the city’s medical landscape serve as the focal point for the regional visit.

The PM will inaugurate the Advanced Mother and Child Centre and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre at the PGI after flagging off India’s first hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana.

The modern medical wings follow early morning historic milestones executed in Haryana. The Prime Minister began his day by officially starting the operations of the nation’s inaugural clean-energy hydrogen train service from the Jind station. During the ceremony at the Eklavya Stadium, he affirmed his commitment to regional growth by rolling out additional public works valued at Rs 14,700 crore before heading toward the Union Territory.

The developmental itinerary extends to Punjab later in the afternoon, where the Prime Minister will head to Jalandhar. A separate financial package exceeding Rs 5,470 crore will be introduced to catalyze the state’s economic progress and elevate existing rail networks.

Among the primary deliverables for the day is the official launch of 75 redeveloped railway stations nationwide, with Jalandhar Cantt featured prominently under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Officials asserted that the coordinated infrastructure drive across Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab represents a unified step toward upgrading public facilities, while traffic supervisors stated that normal route flows will be restored gradually as the programs conclude.
