SUNAM, July 27 — Appealing for a swift end to the ongoing power sector disruption, Punjab Minister Aman Arora urged the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited unions to resume work and resolve their grievances through the established dialogue process. He stated that the interests of the public and the agricultural sector must be kept paramount as the state navigates the peak paddy transplantation cycle.
The Cabinet Minister affirmed that the state government created a joint panel nearly 25 days ago following a request from the union leadership itself. The committee comprises top officials from key departments together with union representatives to ensure a fair and empathetic evaluation of all pending matters.
“The Chief Minister, the Power Department and the entire government have their hearts, minds and doors open. You are welcome to meet the Chief Minister or any minister at any time and present your case,” asserted Aman Arora.
He declared that while many demands of the power sector staff have already been accepted, remaining legitimate recommendations put forward by the joint committee will be approved once the panel concludes its review. The Minister maintained that nearly 90 per cent of the workforce, amounting to around 18,500 personnel, taking part in the stir has impacted daily life and trade across the region.
“Going on strike with the mindset that public inconvenience and hardship to farmers will put pressure on the government cannot be justified under any circumstances. The government belongs to you, and you are servants of the people just as we are,” stated the Minister.
Highlighting the state’s broader track record, Aman Arora declared that significant steps have been taken in recent years to stabilize power delivery across Punjab and fulfill long-standing workforce demands. He asserted that continuous efforts are being made by senior ministers to keep lines of communication open and reach a constructive resolution without further troubling the public.
“Every genuine demand will be resolved through dialogue, but this approach of arm-twisting the government by inconveniencing the public will neither be tolerated nor viewed favourably. Let us resolve every issue through discussions while safeguarding the larger interests of Punjab and its people,” stated Aman Arora.
