Chandigarh, June 11: The Punjab Government has announced intentions to draft a uniform, state-wide policy to deliver permanent administrative and structural relief to citizens residing within unauthorized colonies.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann disclosed the plan during a detailed interactive session with affected residents on Wednesday, emphasizing the administration’s intent to streamline long-pending legal and financial gridlocks.
The proposed guidelines intend to introduce standard infrastructure, including electricity, clean water, and proper sewerage connections, to families currently lacking basic civic facilities due to regulatory non-compliance by private developers. The administration affirmed that this structural package will remain consistent throughout all districts of Punjab, ensuring equal relief deployment across both smaller localities and major centers like Ludhiana and Patiala.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that thousands of innocent property buyers have encountered ongoing difficulties in executing registries or selling plots because developers frequently hid critical statutory rules and missing sanctions at the time of purchase. The Chief Minister declared that while the state will systematically protect regular families who invested their hard-earned life savings without adequate awareness, severe legal actions will be initiated against fraudulent colonizers.
To establish a functional operational framework, a specialized review meeting with senior administrative officers will be called shortly to examine public suggestions and evaluate the outstanding fiscal nuances tied to unauthorized pockets. The Chief Minister declared that feedback from ordinary residents will remain central to constructing a practical, long-term solution.
The state government also urged future property buyers to maintain high vigilance before finalising any real estate commitments. Citizens are advised to perform comprehensive background checks and verify that selected housing ventures hold formal regulatory approvals from statutory authorities, such as the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority or respective regional development bodies.
