New Delhi — Indian and Chinese diplomats concluded high-level talks in the capital on Friday, pledging to rely on existing military and diplomatic frameworks to handle unresolved issues along the Line of Actual Control.
Building upon prior discussions among Special Representatives, the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination session focused on boundary management and institutional communication tools. The Indian delegation, headed by Ministry of External Affairs Joint Secretary Sujit Ghosh, reiterated the importance of sharing technical updates on upstream river developments with Chinese counterpart Hou Yanqi.
Discussions focused on maintaining border tranquility as a cornerstone for broader engagement between the two neighboring nations. Officials reviewed local commander-level mechanisms intended to prevent miscalculations and maintain operational stability on the ground.
“Maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas remained essential for the overall development of bilateral relations,” an official statement maintained.
Ties between the two countries have experienced period strain following the Galwan Valley confrontation, prompting increased troop deployments along the frontier. However, sustained negotiation efforts have gradually helped rebuild political communication channels and preserve balance along the border.
